DAN 137:Contemporary Dance Class Final Showing
Professor: Dr. Celia Weiss Bambara
This contemporary class draws upon the base of Haitian and African dance forms, modern/contemporary as well as yoga and Klein/Mahler techniques. With a focus on finding the body’s full movement in space and time, this class asks students to relocate balance and to play with a range of full spinal, hip and leg articulations. Classes incorporate contemporary movement that is created through seeking out texture and rhythm through movement research. Across the floor and phrase work dig deep into the ground, getting really low, as well as attempt to locate the heights. Be prepared for daring athletic phrasework that will challenge notions of place, space and time.
